📋 Basic Information for New Volunteers

Our Search and Rescue Unit is part of the Order of Malta, an international humanitarian organisation present in over 120 countries worldwide. Malta is proud to host one of only two Canine Search and Rescue Teams within the Order of Malta globally, working closely with our Italian counterparts at CISOM.

🗓 Training Schedule

The Canine Team meets twice a week for training. Canine handlers are expected to attend regularly. Medics, Rescuers, and Drone Pilots are expected to attend at least once a month at minimum.

🎓 Training & Courses

In-house training is provided to all members. External certified courses may be required depending on your role. Unless otherwise specified, the cost of these external courses will be covered by the volunteer.

👕 Uniform & Equipment

  • A basic uniform can be purchased directly from the team.
  • Advanced kits are provided by the team.
  • All specialised equipment required for operations and training is supplied by the team.

🤝 Commitment & Participation

  • Active participation helps ensure the team remains ready to respond when needed.
  • Volunteers are encouraged to attend as many training sessions as possible.
